“The Peace Treaty signed by Germany on 28 June, 1919 in Versailles forbade them to have a military airforce. Nearly 20 000 aircraft and 27 000 aero-engines had to be handed over to the Allies. What’s more, the Article 201 of the Treaty forbade manufacturing or importing any aircraft, aero-engines or parts for a period of six months, since the Treaty’s coming into power. This prohibition related to civilian aviation as well. The Allied commission controlling demilitarisation of Germany managed to liquidate almost all aviation by the end of 1921. But...”
